4-H

4-H was a branch of the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service created specifically as a way for youth to get involved in the programs offered through the Extension Service. Activities through 4-H were specific to whether the participants were boys or girls, such as agricultural lessons for boys and home economic lessons for girls. Boys and girls would progress through lessons and be rewarded for their achievements. Often times 4-H participants would compete in yearly competitions to exhibit their skills.

4-H is a nationwide organization. It's two slogans are "To make the best better," and "Learn by doing." The four leaf clover and four H's represent head, heart, hands, and health.
